A device for hoisting and lowering the davit- launched lifeboat

A winch designed for hoisting and lowering the life boat.

The maximum rope speed (in meters per second) that the winch can maintain with the rope wound on the drum in a single layer, and with negligible tension on the rope, normally not more than 10% of the drum load.

A prime mover which is suitable only for operating the deck machinery in a light loaded condition. Example: Reeling in of an untensioned rope, or topping an unloaded derrick.

M

Mike - M = signal letter and flag. Morse = ( - - )Flag= Diagonal white cross on blue background. When hoisted singly from a ship it means "I have a doctor on board." (Kerchove)

A machinery device, which, with assist of the friction between reel and nets, lifts nets onto the board, shore, or ice surface from water.

Maximum speed, maintained by a winch when it is bearing the drum load (m/s)

Average speed of recovery two shots of chain cable when three shots are submerged and freely suspended at commencement lifting (m/s)

The most essential characteristic parameters of a machine mechanical performance, indication with some important technical index.

O

Oscar - O = signal letter and flag. Morse = ( - - - )Flag= Halved diagonally in red and yellow. When hoisted singly from a ship it means "Man overboard."
